😱 “Fruit makes you fat!” You’ve heard this one before, right? You shouldn’t eat fruit because of the fructose, right? Welp… Here’s what I say:
🛑 Stop being silly.
🐐 You’re being a super silly billy goat right now. Cut it out. Calm down. Let’s get real.
✅ Fruit does not make you fat. Period. End of story. Nobody ever gained 100 pounds of body fat from overeating strawberries.
🍓 “Oh, it was the dreaded strawberries!”
🤨 “Oh, no it wasn’t.”
⚖️ Your energy-balance equation (Calories-IN vs Calories-OUT) determines your weight fluctuations. It’s not about the glycemic response, or the fructose, or even the organic certification. It’s the Calories-IN vs the Calories-OUT.
You can enjoy fruits for many reasons:
1⃣ They’re delicious! Appease your sweet tooth with whole foods rather than highly-processed desserts. 🍌>🍨
2⃣ They’re nutritious! Fruits are packed with more vitamins and minerals than most other carbohydrate sources. Nature’s multivitamin. 💊=🌱
3⃣ They’re high in fiber! Fiber improves gut health, regulates blood sugar, lowers cholesterol, and promotes longevity. It also gives you better poops! 💩=👍
4⃣ They are low-Calorie. Even higher-Calorie fruits are a better bang-for-your-buck than 90% of other snack options. 🍎>🍬
5⃣ Cutting entire food groups out of your diet promotes a fear-of-food mentality. You can eat anything – not everything. Don’t spend all week avoiding fruit, and all weekend eating fast-food or drinking alcohol. Grapes will always be healthier than wine. 🍇>🍷
