The fun exercise that you will do is better than the optimal exercise that you won’t do.

Getting your daily physical activity in should be fun. You’re never too old for a trampoline or a skateboard or a tennis racquet. Whatever it is that gets you moving and smiling at the same time, do that. Play isn’t just for kids.

Yesterday I played “keep the balloon in the air” with an elderly client of mine to improve his reflexes and coordination. It was one of the most fun training sessions we’ve had in a long time. It was also one of the most effective. I’ve never seen him move so fast.

Today was a scheduled “REST” day for me, but I still wanted to move. And I did a 15-minute trampoline routine. And it kicked my ass. And I had a blast. And it was hard to get up off my chair to do it. But I’m glad I did.
